The Steam Deck’s store page has vanished. Since Nov. 2, 2026, clicking the handheld’s listing, the “buy” link on Valve’s hardware page or the Steam Deck search result sends shoppers to the Steam homepage instead. Valve has not explained why, and it has not said the device is discontinued. Here is what is known, what is not, and what it means if you were planning to buy one.
What happened
Users on Reddit and gaming forums noticed over the weekend that the Steam Deck’s store page redirects to the Steam front page. Valve’s own hardware section still lists four products in search, including Steam Deck, alongside the upcoming Steam Machine, Steam Frame headset and the new Steam Controller. Only the Deck’s page is broken.
As of Nov. 4, Valve had not posted a statement on its Steam Deck news page or responded to media requests, according to reports from Mixed and Rolling Out.
What it probably is not
A redirect on its own does not mean the product is dead. Valve has historically announced end-of-life changes in writing, as it did in late 2025 when it confirmed it was “no longer producing the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model.” No such note exists for the OLED models.
What it might be
- Stock problems. The Steam Deck has been in and out of stock in the U.S. for months. Valve warned earlier this year that the OLED model “may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages,” and raised OLED prices, citing memory costs and logistics. A page pulled while stock is at zero would fit that pattern.
- A store refresh. Valve is preparing to sell three new hardware products. A rework of the hardware storefront could temporarily break the Deck’s page.
- A plain glitch. Steam store pages have gone missing before and returned within days.
Can you still buy a Steam Deck?
Not directly from Valve in the U.S. right now, because the purchase page is unreachable. Refurbished units through Valve’s certified-refurbished program depend on the same store and are also unavailable while the page is down. Third-party listings on eBay and other marketplaces exist but at a markup, and Valve’s warranty does not transfer to second-hand purchases.
If you already own a Deck, nothing changes. SteamOS updates, support and repairs continue as before.
What it means for you
If you were hoping to buy a Steam Deck as a holiday gift, wait a few days for Valve to clarify rather than paying scalper prices. If the device is being discontinued, Valve has said its next hardware wave is coming, and a Steam Machine or a Deck successor would be the natural replacement. We will update this article when Valve comments.
