This page explains how Luz News reports, writes, checks and publishes its journalism. It applies to every article on luznews.com.
Accuracy and sourcing
- We report from primary sources wherever possible: official statements, government data, court documents, company filings and releases, and on-the-record interviews.
- When a fact comes from another news organisation, we attribute it and link to the original report.
- Numbers, dates and names are checked against the source before publication.
- Photos are either our own, licensed, or used under their stated licence with a credit. Illustrative or file photos are labelled as such in the caption.
Editorial review
Every article is reviewed by an editor before it goes live. The editor checks the facts, the sourcing and the headline, and confirms that the article is clearly labelled as news, analysis or opinion.
Dates and updates
Each article shows its original publication date. If an article is materially changed after publication, we show the date of the update and, where relevant, explain what changed.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. How to report an error, and how corrections are shown, is set out in our Corrections Policy.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Luz News is independently owned. Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. Sponsored content, affiliate links and partnerships are always clearly labelled. Staff do not write about companies or organisations in which they have a financial interest.
Opinion and analysis
News articles report facts. Pieces that include interpretation or recommendations are labelled as analysis or opinion so readers can tell the difference.
Use of technology
We may use software tools to help with research, transcription and editing. Every published article is written, checked and approved by a person on the Luz News editorial team, who is responsible for its accuracy.
Privacy and fairness
We respect the privacy of people in the news and give the subjects of critical reporting a fair chance to respond. We avoid sensational language and do not publish content that is discriminatory or hateful.
