The NFL’s Thanksgiving slate has grown into a five-game, three-day holiday block in 2026. For the first time there is a game on Thanksgiving Eve, followed by the traditional Detroit and Dallas afternoon games, a prime-time matchup and a Black Friday game. Thanksgiving Eve: a new tradition on Netflix
Packers at Rams on Wednesday night is the NFL’s first game played the night before Thanksgiving. Netflix, which carried Christmas Day games in 2024 and 2025, adds the Wednesday window this season. You need a Netflix subscription to watch; there is no over-the-air broadcast.
Thanksgiving Day: Lions, Cowboys and a prime-time heavyweight
Detroit has hosted on Thanksgiving every year since 1934 and Dallas since 1966, so the early and late-afternoon windows look familiar. The Bears-Lions game is an NFC North rivalry with playoff implications, and Eagles-Cowboys is the NFC East’s biggest rivalry in the 4:30 slot.
The night game, Chiefs at Bills, pairs the two teams that have met in the AFC playoffs repeatedly in recent seasons. NBC’s Sunday Night Football crew has the call, with Peacock streaming the same feed.
Black Friday on Prime Video
Broncos at Steelers kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 27, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon has held the Black Friday game since 2023. A Prime membership includes the stream; a standalone Prime Video subscription also works.
How to watch without cable
- Free over the air: CBS, FOX and NBC carry the three Thursday games on local broadcast channels. A $20 to $40 indoor antenna picks them up in most metro areas.
- Streaming the broadcast games: Paramount+ (CBS), FOX One (FOX) and Peacock (NBC) stream their own networks’ games. Live TV services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo and Sling (with the right add-ons) carry all three.
- Netflix and Prime Video games: only on those services. There is no broadcast alternative outside the two teams’ home markets, where local stations usually simulcast.
- NFL+: streams every game live on phones and tablets only.
Planning around the games
With the first kickoff at 1 p.m. ET and the last final whistle near midnight, the day covers nearly 11 hours of football. If you are hosting dinner, the gap between the Lions game ending around 4:15 and the Cowboys kickoff at 4:30 is short; the gap before the 8:20 night game is the natural dinner window. Traveling?
